Anxiety Problems

I provide individual treatment for children and adults with stress-related problems, fears and phobias, and other anxiety disorders. Treatment is provided for:
  • Panic Disorder
  • Generalized Fears
  • Generalized Anxiety
  • Phobias, and School Refusal
  • Social Phobia and Social Discomfort
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Mixed Anxiety Disorders
Initial Assessment: The first meeting provides an opportunity to review current symptoms, possible co-existing medical disorders to be considered by their physician, prior treatment history, available support systems, and other relevant factors. Assessment is further customized, depending upon where the problems with anxiety occur.

Treatment: Interventions are individually tailored to meet the needs of individuals. Treatment may include some or most of the following strategies:
  • Psychoeducation about why people develop anxiety problems and the role stress and misperception plays in fueling such problems
  • Behavior Modification and/or Cognitive-Behavioral Techniques
  • Relaxation Training
  • Stress Reduction Training
  • Social skills development or reduction in public speaking
  • Practice in real world settings
  • Biofeedback
  • Problem-Solving strategies
  • Inclusion of spouse, parents, or significant others in the the treatment process
  • Progress is may be tracked using standard or customized data systems designed to provide individuals (both children and adults) with useful information regarding effective anxiety and stress reduction strategies plus an overall rating of their progress
