Feedback
We have collected quality assurance data on our programs since the first year it began. This has helped us modify the program over time to make it more useful to students and their families. These statements have been reproduced verbatim, except as noted in parentheses (added to clarify content):
What kids and teens liked:
- got a chance to try to get to know others
- I learned to be comfortable speaking in front of other people
- I had a good time. I learned a bit about safety.
- I learned some things I didn't know and made friends
- Talking to my parents about my problems that we encountered
- I really enjoyed the fact that it's okay to be different
- This hardly helped me with rememberance but it did help me with other issues
- Observing behavior of other kids
- Work together on projects
- The group was pretty good at working on social skills
- Lots of fun!
What parents liked:
- The social interaction between the kids was something (my child) does not have normally, so that was good
- The social interaction was key for (my child) since he never gets together with friends. The lunches gave him a chance to make choices on his own. We really liked the group
- Gave us a meta-level to address issues
- Very nice group!
- The example of the other kids and Dr. Gale's feeling that parent communication skills needed to come under view
- (Coming to) this group (my child) seems more engaging. (My child) has less anxiety with new situations...
- Group activities, improved social interaction with other group members. My child is interacting more socially with schoolmates and family members
- Compatibility of students in group
- Communicating with students in a patient and dignified manner
